Fin Min says hopes US to revoke sanctions against RUSAL in 2019

MOSCOW, Dec 25 (PRIME) -- The Russian Finance Ministry is in dialogue with the U.S. Department of Treasury and hopes that the sanctions against aluminum producer RUSAL will be abolished in 2019, Minister Anton Siluanov told reporters on Tuesday.

“The key point here is that the proposals formed by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), they were fulfilled. The U.S. Department of Treasury, based on this, has submitted a corresponding proposal to the Congress. We hope that these mutual liabilities will be fulfilled and the company will be able to quit the sanctions regime next year,” Siluanov said.

The Russian Finance Ministry is also in talks to lift the sanctions against car maker GAZ Group. The company is not ready to fulfill all required corporate procedures, the minister said.
